Preschool Gymnastics

Unlike our Lions & Cubs free-play sessions, Kittens is coach-led. The children move around the gym together, exploring different pieces of apparatus while beginning to learn the foundations of gymnastics through activities designed especially for little bodies.

Along the way, we work on balance, coordination, strength, flexibility and body awareness — but at this age, gymnastics is about much more than skills. We encourage independence, listening, taking turns, trying new things and growing in confidence.

And, most importantly, we have lots of fun while we do it.

Does a grown-up stay?

We encourage our preschoolers to take part independently — and they often surprise their grown-ups with just how quickly they settle.

We also know that every child is different. If your little one needs you with them while they find their feet, that’s absolutely fine. You’re welcome to accompany them until they feel happy joining in without you, however long that takes.

If your child still needs help using the toilet, we just ask that you remain nearby during the session.

What should they wear?

There’s no need to buy anything special to get started. Children should wear comfortable, close-fitting clothing that they can move freely in, such as leggings, shorts, a T-shirt or sportswear. Leotards are absolutely welcome too, but they’re not required.

For safety, we ask that children avoid jeans, dresses, skirts, clothing with zips or anything particularly loose or restrictive. Long hair should be tied back and jewellery removed before the session. Children take part barefoot unless there’s a medical reason.
